PC Party candidate Michael Huenefeld in the South Surrey-White Rock By-Election will speak to students of Sun Ridge Elementary in Cloverdale, Friday December 1st about the PC Party and the importance of participating in Canadian democracy.

For Immediate Release:

South Surrey-White Rock, BC  November 30, 2017.  Progressive Canadian candidate Michael Huenefeld in the South Surrey-White Rock by-election will speak to students at the French immersion school in Cloverdale Friday, December 1st, at the invitation of teacher Leslie Hussmann and faculty.

Many Sun Rise Ridge Elementary students live in South Surrey-White Rock.  An estimated 100-150 intermediate students will be participating.

Start time is 10:45 a.m..

Michael Huenefeld, who is fleuent in French and Spanish and has studied Japanese, will speak to students and take questions in both English and French about the Progressive Canadian party and about the importance of participating in Canadian democracy.

Michael Huenefeld, who teaches business at SFU and Columbia College frequently gives public lectures in French and Canadian history at the Alliance Français de Vancouver, has always believed in the importance of student engagement in Canada’s political life.  As a youthful member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada, Michael received an award for achievement in 2002 in Langley from Tory leader and former prime minister, the Rt. Hon. Joe Clark.

The Progressive Canadian Party was founded by Progressive Conservatives as a continuation of the Tory party, which Sir John A. Macdonald famously described as ``progressive Conservative`` in 1854, well before Confederation in 1867.  

2017 is the 150th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation on July 1, 1867.

The Progressive Canadian Party (PC Party) has been represented by former South Surrey resident Brian Marlatt in each of the last four General Elections since the takeover of the Progressive Conservative Party by the Canadian Alliance in 2003.

Other candidates will also be represented speak Friday or at a later date.

Election day in the South Surrey-White Rock is December 11, 2017.  Advance polls will take place December 1, 2, 3 and 4.
